Original Oil on Canvas “Kathy” (1969) by Cotti (signed)   8.5" x 11.5" + 4.75" frame   $2,000

Cotti, a master of the fine art of oil painting, is known for his exquisite portraits which can be found in the galleries of collectors worldwide. Born in California, June 22, 1935, Cotti attended Chouinard Art Institute and studied under notable artists such as Paco Strada, a protege of Diego Rivera, Leon Frank and Dino Cyter. He has been commissioned to paint portraits by Orson Wells, Marlene Dietrich and Josephine Baker.

The painting is of Cotti's neice, Kathleen Silva, when she was about 16 years old. Five years later, she married Sly Stone in the middle of a Sly and the Family Stone concert in New York's Madison Square Garden on June 5, 1974.

This painting has been in a private collection since 1969. The cracks in the paint in the lower right side were present when this piece was originally purchased and, in my opinion, does not detract from the beauty and powerful emotion of the painting.
